Kayla Bates
About me:
I’m Kayla! I am a licensed massage therapist and yoga teacher. I have a clinical understanding of the body as well as a deep appreciation for the energetics of being human. I lived in Nepal and India studying the roots of yoga and have guided others through the practice for over 14 years. I originally went to school for Kinesiology and later graduated from Sage School of Massage here in Central OR.
Receiving bodywork has always been an important part of my life to continue doing the things I love - be it yoga, marathons, chasing my toddler around, lifting weights, nurturing my nervous system… it’s always been a way for me to embody my body and prevent injury from manifesting without my awareness. Being able to practice hands-on bodywork is a great privilege and something I’ll never grow tired of.
Massage with me is curated to your needs and goals. My clients range from athletes seeking aid in recovery to postpartum Moms looking for deep rest and nurturing. I have an office in Bend, The Sisters Wellness Collective, and I offer in-home care for perinatal appointments. Though I don’t take insurance I’m happy to provide you with a receipt to submit to your insurance, and I offer package deals to try and make bodywork more accessible.
My modalities may include deep tissue, myofascial, cupping, trigger point therapy, and TEH energy practices. I don’t follow strict protocols or sequencing, when you’re in session with me I’m here to listen to your body and respond with the patterns and tools I’ve learned along the way. Come as you are!
What services do you offer?
Kayla offers therapeutic massage and perinatal care at two Central Oregon locations: in Bend and within the Sisters Wellness Collective. In-home visits are also available for postpartum clients.
Her massage sessions are personalized and may draw from a range of modalities including deep tissue, myofascial release, cupping, trigger point therapy, and TEH energy healing practices. She does not follow rigid protocols. Each session is shaped by what she finds in your body that day.
Therapeutic Massage (60 or 90 minutes): Tailored bodywork aimed at releasing tension, restoring mobility, and supporting overall balance. Techniques are chosen based on your needs and may include nervous system regulation work and subtle energy integration.
Perinatal Massage: Specialized care for pregnancy and the postpartum period. Prenatal sessions create space in both the body and mind for the transitions ahead. Postpartum sessions focus on deep rest and gentle recovery, ideally offered as a series over time. In-home visits are available for postpartum clients.
Packages: Kayla offers a Postpartum Series and a Postpartum HOME Series, each consisting of six sessions to be used within three months, at a 10% discount. She also periodically releases limited 3-pack and 5-pack therapeutic massage discounts through her email newsletter, a few times per year.
Who Is a Good Fit
Kayla works with a wide range of people, and that range is intentional. Athletes looking to support recovery and performance will feel at home here, as will postpartum mothers seeking rest, rebalancing, and care. If you are someone who wants to stay proactive about your body, whether that means preventing injury, managing the demands of an active life, or simply nurturing your nervous system on a regular basis, Kayla is a wonderful fit.
Her approach is especially well-suited to people who appreciate a practitioner who listens first and responds to what the body is actually doing rather than running through a predetermined routine. If you value both the physical and the energetic dimensions of care, and you are open to that kind of holistic attentiveness, you are going to feel right at home in a session with her.
Who Is Not a Good Fit
Kayla does not accept conventional health insurance. If insurance coverage is a requirement for your care, her practice is not set up to bill on your behalf. That said, she is happy to provide a receipt you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, so it is worth checking your plan. She also offers package deals to help make consistent bodywork more financially accessible.
Because Kayla's sessions are intuitive and responsive rather than strictly protocol-driven, clients who strongly prefer a standardized or medical-documentation-heavy approach may be better served elsewhere. Her work is personal, present, and adaptive by design.
What to expect when working with me:
When you come to Kayla, you come as you are. That is not just a warm sentiment, it is a philosophy. She does not arrive at a session with a fixed plan. She arrives with a deep toolkit, sharp attention, and the ability to read and respond to what your body needs in the moment. Sessions may weave together massage, fascial work, cupping, trigger point therapy, and energy practices in whatever combination serves you best that day.
You will likely leave feeling grounded. That word comes up in the reviews, and for good reason. Kayla has a rare ability to help a nervous system settle, which means the benefits of a session with her tend to go beyond the physical. Whether you are coming in for athletic recovery, pregnancy support, stress relief, or long-term maintenance, the experience is attentive, personalized, and genuinely restorative.
